LA PEDRIZA
OF THE MANZANARES

La Pedriza is a large granite batholite located on the southern slopes of the Sierra de Guadarrama, within the Spanish municipality of Manzanares el Real, in the northwest of the Community of Madrid. This ravine is formed by numerous cliffs, rocky walls, fields, streams and meadows.

THE LOZOYA

The Lozoya Valley is bounded by a series of mountain ranges, all belonging to the Spanish Central System, which naturally mark its boundaries: the Montes Carpetanos, the Somosierra mountain range (two parts of the Guadarrama mountain range) and the southernmost foothills.

RESERVOIR OF
LA JAROSA

The Jarosa Reservoir is located in the Jarosa Valley and is a source of supply for Guadarrama. It was built in 1968, on the uninhabited village of Herrería del Berrueco. When the water level is low enough, you can see the remains of the old houses of the village.

CHURCH OF
SAN MIGUEL

The Church of San Miguel has its origin in the 18th century. Fernando VI built a Royal Bread Box in the town centre that was beginning to be formed in Guadarrama, with the aim of feeding the royal armies. The Panera Real was destroyed during the French invasion.

FOUNTAIN OF
THE CAÑOS

Carlos III built the Fountain of the Caños in 1785 to supply water to the town of Guadarrama and the travellers who crossed the mountain. The monument, of neoclassical style, was built with irregular granite ashlars.
